The Mermaid Chair

A review from my mother-in-law, Jan

I finished another book by Sue Monk Kidd this weekend - The Mermaid Chair. I got it from the library. I really found the book interesting. It held my attention and had several surprises. It was emotional and wrapped you into the emotion. The book is set on a South Carolina island and is about a woman who has been married for over 20 years. She returns home to the island where she grew up to take care of her Mother, who has become violent, and she stays on to come to grips with the death of her Father and her own life. The setting is very Southern and the story is very interesting. This is a thought provoking book like her other book, The Secret Life of Bees. I hope you find the book enjoyable.

This one is on my list to read this summer. Glad you liked it. I can't wait to read it, but I'm on a Harry Potter kick right now getting geared up for the final book!
